HUB Cycling’s Bike-Friendly Buildings Consulting Team Advises Several Diverse Projects
Did you know that HUB Cycling has a consulting team of experts that supports developers, property managers, employers, and other stakeholders across Metro Vancouver to make their buildings bike-friendly and ready for the future of multi-modal travel?
In recent months, the Bike Friendly Buildings Consulting team has been busy with wide-ranging projects:
- PCI Developments engaged the Bike Friendly Building team to advise their rezoning application building design for a Transit Oriented Development project in Moody Centre. HUB Cycling's consultants worked closely with Perkins + Will Architects and Bunt Engineering to confirm short- and long-term bike parking capacities, including accommodation for e-bikes, building entrance and hallway access, and local cycling network connections.
- The adoption of e-bikes is increasing the number of people riding, and distances they can go by bike. But lithium-ion battery fires are a growing issue and QuadReal Property Group is taking a lead on bike rack and fire detection and suppression systems design safety. HUB Cycling's Bike Friendly Building team partnered with Senez Consulting, a fire safety engineering company, to develop a specialized e-bike charging safety design manual for QuadReal's existing and planned developments across Canada.
- Tribe Property Management enlisted HUB Cycling's specialized Bike Friendly Building expertise to identify options for expanding bike parking for tenants of Erikson Tower in Burnaby. HUB Cycling's consultants provided detailed plans for installing secure bike parking in spaces available in the building's car parking area and a covered exterior area near the building entrance. They also met with strata members to review our recommendations to inform their final decision-making.
- PC Urban enlisted Bike Friendly Building services to analyze and advise on cycling design and amenities for an affordable rental residential building they will develop on Barclay Street on the Vancouver Downtown Peninsula. The project is at the rezoning stage, and PC Urban is emphasizing its goal to make active and multi-modal transportation highly accessible to future building residents.
